Gardenview Estate Bed & Breakfast offers a rich variety of wildlife right on our property. Our grounds are frequented by several species, making it an interesting destination for nature enthusiasts. While we can't guarantee a sighting, we can provide tips on best time & areas to look.
Common Sightings
We often see white-tailed deer and wild turkeys around the property. These animals are a regular part of our landscape and can usually be spotted in the early morning or late evening. Deer are frequently seen grazing the grass or eating from the apple trees, while wild turkeys wander through the yard & fields.

Less Common Visitors
In addition to deer and turkeys, our property is home to elk, coyote, fox, bobcat, marmots, and groundhogs. Though black bears have not been seen directly, evidence such as scat suggests they visit, particularly to consume fruit.

Even Rarer Sightings
Wolves and mouse have been spotted within a mile of the property, though we have not seen them directly.
Bird Watching Opportunities
For those interested in bird watching, we have a variety of species. A pair of bald eagles nests along the river at the back of our property and can be seen bringing their young into the yard for hunting practice. Other bird species include pheasants, quail, turkey vultures, owls, magpies, red-headed woodpeckers, herons, and hawks. While I’m still learning to identify smaller bird varieties, the range of species adds to the richness of the bird-watching experience here.

River Wildlife
The river that runs through the back our property is home to otters and turtles. Otters can occasionally be seen playing in the water, and turtles often bask on logs. Check out the map in your room outlining the 15 minute walk to the river, or ask your hostess for directions.

Wildlife Photography
Each guest room features photographs of wildlife taken by local hobby photographer Dave Jones. Although these images were not captured on our property, they showcase the types of wildlife you might encounter during your visit. We selected these images to give you a glimpse of the local wildlife and the variety of animals that call our region home.
